Distribution

This species is known only from Southeast Asia and Australia (Noyes 2002; 2003).

Hosts

The only known host for this species is Liriomyza huidobrensis, although it is known from Australia where L. huidobrensis does not occur. Like most leafminer parasitoids, we expect that it will have a wider host range than a single species.

Biology

So far, this species is only known from agromyzid leafminers, although other members of the genus Zagrammosoma attack a wider range of leafminers (e.g. Lepidoptera, Coleoptera as well as Diptera).

Comments

Z. latilineatum occurs throughout Southeast Asia, but it never seems to occur in population densities high enough to expect it to supply good levels of biological control.
