Ericaceae

Origin
Native to southern Africa (i.e. Cape Province in South Africa).

Notes
This garden ornamental is regarded as an environmental weed in Victoria, and as a potential environmental weed or "sleeper weed" in other parts of southern Australia. It has escaped cultivation and was first recorded as naturalised in Victoria in 1988.
Angled heath (Erica quadrangularis) has since been recorded from Langwarrin Military Reserve and Kilsyth in Victoria, and is also seen as a potential threat to Port Campbell National Park. It is also thought to pose a serious threat to lowland grasslands and grassy woodlands in this state and is seen as a potential threat to the endangered Kilsyth South spider-orchid (Caladenia sp. aff. venusta Kilsyth South).
