Origin
Native to southern Africa.
Naturalised Distribution
Widely naturalised throughout southern Australia, particularly in inland areas. It is common in south-western New South Wales, north-western Victoria, southern South Australia and south-western Western Australia. Occasionally naturalised in other parts of New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia.
Naturalised overseas in south-western USA (i.e. California, Oregon and Arizona).
Notes
Small ice-plant (Mesembryanthemum nodiflorum) is regarded as an environmental weed in Western Australia and South Australia. It was recently also listed as a priority environmental weed in at least one Natural Resource Management region.
