Origin
Native to southern USA and Mexico.
Naturalised Distribution
This species is not yet widely naturalised in Australia and is mostly found in the southern parts of Victoria (particularly near Melbourne). It has also been recorded in south-eastern South Australia.
Notes
Texas needlegrass (Nassella leucotricha) is regarded as an environmental weed in Victoria, and was recently listed as a priority environmental weed in three Natural Resource Management regions.
