Origin

Native to eastern Asia (i.e. China, Taiwan and the Philippines).

Naturalised Distribution

Naturalised in some parts of south-eastern Australia (i.e. in eastern New South Wales and the ACT). Also naturalised on Lord Howe Island.

Naturalised overseas in southern USA (i.e. California, Texas, Alabama and Georgia).

Notes

Chinese pistachio (Pistacia chinensis) is regarded as an environmental weed in New south Wales and the ACT, and is also a potential environmental weed or "sleeper weed" in other parts of southern Australia.
