Origin
The exact native range of this species is obscure, but it is thought to be native to northern and western Europe (i.e. Denmark, Ireland, the UK, Austria, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Yugoslavia, France, Portugal and Spain).
Naturalised Distribution
Widely naturalised in southern Australia (i.e. in many parts of eastern New South Wales, in the ACT, in Victoria and Tasmania, in south-eastern South Australia and in the coastal districts of south-western and western Western Australia).
Notes
Broad-leaved dock (Rumex obtusifolius subsp. obtusifolius) is regarded as an environmental weed in Victoria.
