Native to northern Africa (i.e. northern Algeria, northern Libya, Morocco and Tunisia), the Azores, the Madeira Islands, the Canary Islands, southern Europe (i.e. France, Portugal, Spain, Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy and Yugoslavia) and western Asia (i.e. Turkey).
Naturalised Distribution
Widely naturalised in southern Australia (i.e. in many parts of southern and central New South Wales, in Victoria and Tasmania, in many parts of South Australia, and in the south-western and southern parts of Western Australia.
Also naturalised in the USA.
Notes
Pincushion plant (Scabiosa atropurpurea) is regarded as an environmental weed in South Australia and Western Australia.
