Origin
Native to southern Europe (i.e. Greece, Italy, Yugoslavia, southern France, Portugal and Spain) and western Asia.
Naturalised Distribution
This species is occasionally naturalised in south-eastern South Australia (i.e. in the Mount Lofty Ranges region and on Kangaroo Island).
Notes
Hyacinth bluebell (Scilla hyacinthoides) has escaped cultivation as a garden ornamental in South Australia, and is regarded as an environmental weed in some parts of this state. It is mainly a problem in the Adelaide region, where it has recently been listed as a common environmental weed.
