Origin
Native to northern Africa (i.e. Algeria, Morocco and northern Egypt), the Canary Islands and southern Europe (i.e. Italy, Malta, Portugal and Spain).
Note: despite the scientific and common names, Cuban lily (Scilla peruviana) is not native to the Caribbean or South America.
Naturalised Distribution
Naturalised in some parts of south-eastern Australia (i.e. naturalised in western and central Victoria and in some parts of South Australia, and sparingly naturalised in Tasmania).
Notes
Cuban lily (Scilla peruviana) is listed as a common environmental weed of the Adelaide region and is seen as a minor environmental weed or potential environmental weed in other parts of south-eastern Australia. It is grown as a garden ornamental in temperate regions, from where it has escaped into urban bushland.
