Origin
Native to Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and South America, south to Peru and Argentina.
Naturalised Distribution
Widely naturalised in northern Australia (i.e. in northern Queensland and the north-western parts of the Northern Territory) and also occasionally naturalised in south-eastern Queensland.
Naturalised overseas in Hawaii and Indonesia.
Notes
White snakeweed (Stachytarpheta australis) is regarded as an environmental weed in northern Australia (i.e. in the Northern Territory and northern Queensland).
