Origin
Native to Central America (i.e. Panama) and tropical South America (i.e. French Guiana, Guyana, Surinam, Venezuela, Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru).
Naturalised Distribution
Sparingly naturalised in northern Queensland.
Also naturalised overseas in South Africa.
Notes
Ant tree (Triplaris americana) is regarded as an emerging environmental weed in northern Queensland.
