Origin

Native to South America.

Naturalised Distribution

Widely naturalised in southern and eastern Australia (i.e. in south-eastern Queensland, some parts of eastern New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, south-eastern South Australia and south-western Western Australia).

Also naturalised in New Zealand and south-eastern USA (i.e. Texas and Louisiana).

Notes

Blue pigroot (Sisyrinchium iridifolium) is regarded as an environmental weed in Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
