This species has not been studied by the present authors.

Related and similar species

The genus Adraneothrips currently includes 59 species, all but three of which are from the Americas, mainly from tropical areas. Four species are listed from California, each described on very few specimens. A. vacuus was described from six wingless individuals, and studies on this and similar species must await more extensive field sampling to gain some understanding of variation within and between species.
